Claudio Coello (* 2. March 1642 in Madrid; 20. April 1693 ebenda) was a Spanish painter.
Coello was a pupil of Francisco Rizi. He acquired a great reputation, but was obscured by Luca Giordano's arrival, which ushered in the period of decline of Spanish art, and died on April 20, 1693 in Madrid from grief over it.
He left behind in Madrid, San Ildefonso, the Escorial, Paular, Saragossa, Salamanca, Corella, Torrejón de Ardoz, Valdemoro and in other places religious pictures which are characterized by strong conception. Claudio Coello was the last important Spanish painter of the classical period.
