Fernand Cormon, actually Fernand-Anne Piestre Cormon, (* 24. December 1845 in Paris; 20. March 1924 ebenda) was a French painter and director of the private painting school Atelier Cormon. At his time he was a well-known history painter in France, who often painted religious themes and later occasionally turned to portrait painting. His style of painting can be attributed to academic realism.
