Biography

The sculptor Laurent Delvaux (* 1695 in Gent; † 24 February 1778 in Nivelles) was a pupil of Jan Baptiste Helderberg and Pieter-Denis Plumier. From 1717 he worked in London and from 1727 to 1733 in Italy.

In 1734 he became court sculptor of Emperor Charles VI, later of Charles Alexander of Lorraine and Maria Theresa. He died in Nivelles, where he had mainly lived.
