Biography

Pietro Cavallini (* 2nd half 13th century; † around 1330) was an Italian painter who worked in Rome and Naples at the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th century. He made mosaics in the style of the Cosmates and kept in his frescoes the Byzantine manner animated by a fresher feeling of nature. In 1308 Cavallini worked for the King in Naples. This is the only date in Cavallini's life that is documented.
